A lot of people have trouble with eye contact when they do a presentation. When you ask them why they don’t give good eye contact, they usually give you a thousand and one excuses. Eye contact is vital, as it allows you to show confidence in what you are saying. Eye contact can also make or break a deal if you are trying to get someone to believe in what you are saying. Who believes someone when they won’t even look you in the eye? No one!
Fair enough, in some countries looking someone in the eye is disrespectful. In saying that, unless you’re in one of the countries that has this in their culture, make eye contact!
Usually you see people who aren’t comfortable with eye contact or don’t know how, sweep the room to try and get everyone in. When they do do this it looks like they’re trying to score brownie points in the eye contact area, as if they are getting judged. Never do More
